Pentax Optio 43WR Review

Review Summary
Reader Score: 10.00 (out of 10)
The Pentax Optio 43WR goes head to head with Olympus's heavily advertised Stylus 410. It offers a more flexible feature set and a more dunkable level of waterproofing, but whether it will outpace the Olympus in the areas of photo quality and performance is yet to be seen. The Optio 43WR will be available in June for $349 (list).

The Optio 43WR is one of the latest offerings from Pentax, an upgrade to the previous 33WR model, with a larger sensor and smattering of other enhancements. If you're not familiar with the earlier Optio 33WR, the key attribute of these cameras is their water resistance. (Hence, the "WR" in the model numbers.) While not intended for deep-sea diving, the Optio 33WR and 43WR are designed to be sufficiently waterproof to withstand heavy rain, spray from waves, and even an occasional shallow dunking.
