Kodak today announced the latest addition to its consumer digital product portfolio, designed to make it easier than ever for people to share pictures with family and friends anytime, anywhere. The KODAK SLICE Touchscreen Camera lets consumers carry a personal photo album worth sharing and reliving at all times. With a sleek and intuitive 3.5-inch touchscreen, and the KODAK SLICE Search Feature, consumers can find the pictures they want from up to 5,000 that can be stored on internal memory. Then, they can easily share those pictures right from the back of the camera. The KODAK SLICE Touchscreen Camera will be available in black, nickel and radish for US $349.95 MSRP beginning in April 2010.

Kodak today announced its new KODAK PULSE Digital Frame. This touchscreen-enabled frame is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and a personal e-mail address so consumers can easily send pictures wirelessly to the frame from a computer, from Facebook and KODAK Gallery sites, or from any device that has email capability. The KODAK PULSE Frame redefines the element of surprise, giving consumers a constant stream of new pictures to enjoy, celebrate and relive. The frame can store up to 4,000 pictures depending on resolution and features a high-resoultion, 800x600 pixel, 7" display. The KODAK PULSE Digital Frame will be available for US $129.99 beginning in April 2010.

Retired Kodak research scientist Bryce Bayer, whose invention of a color filter array enabled digital imaging sensors to capture color, is today being honored by the Royal Photographic Society with its Progress Award at a ceremony in London. Bayer invented the color filter array that bears his name (the Bayer filter), which is incorporated into nearly every digital camera and camera phone on the market today. Described in U.S. Patent 3,971,065, "Color Imaging Array," filed in 1975, color filters are arranged in a checkerboard pattern to best match how people perceive images, and provide a highly detailed color image.

Eastman Kodak Company is again supplying the CCD Image Sensors that lie at the heart of the latest digital camera from Leica Camera AG. The KODAK KAF-18500 Image Sensor was developed specifically for the newly announced LEICA M9, the latest member in Leica’s legendary M-series of cameras. Enabling a new generation of features and capabilities for this Rangefinder camera, the Kodak sensor provides full-frame image capture, increased resolution, and improved image quality compared to the image sensor used in the previous generation LEICA M8 camera. The M9 is now the fourth LEICA camera to utilize KODAK CCD Image Sensors, building on Kodak’s earlier support of the LEICA Digital Module-R, the LEICA M8 (Leica’s first digital Rangefinder camera), and the new LEICA S2 camera.
