Ricoh yesterday announced the development and release of the GR DIGITAL IV digital camera, the successor model to the GR DIGITAL III, which offers enhanced Quick Shooting capability and image quality. The new GR DIGITAL IV, featuring a new image engine and a refined optical filter, exceeds the previous GR DIGITAL III and achieves the highest level of image quality in the history of the GR series.

The new model features improved AF speed and accuracy, refined optical filter for higher image quality, new image-sensor shift image stabilization, new brighter 3.0" LCD display, and other advanced / pro features.

Ricoh today announced the development and planned September 9, 2011 release of the new product GXR MOUNT A12, a lens mount unit exclusively for the GXR interchangeable unit camera system.

Featuring an APS-C size CMOS sensor and a newly developed focal plane shutter, this unit makes it possible to mount lenses such as Leica M lenses, and it provides various types of compensation and correction functions.

The GXR is a unique interchangeable unit camera system in which lenses can be changed by mounting camera units that integrate lens, image sensor, and image processing engine into a single unit. In addition, utilizing its unique ability to accommodate interchangeable units other than camera units, the system can be expanded to include a variety of other devices.

Ricoh will release both the third function-enhancing firmware update for its GXR range of compact digital cameras which were initially released in December 2009, and the fourth function-enhancing firmware update for its GR DIGITAL III range of cameras which were originally released in August 2009, on March 28th, 2011.

The Firmware update for the GXR models include the addition of a Scene Mode, Target Follow Function, Reset/Cancel function, and a Magnified playback function. The GR Digital III was enhanced with a new Target Follow AF function, AF/Target Follow AF switching function, new selection function within the manual white balance setting capture area, an electronic level display for self-timer, and more.

Ricoh has announced the development of expansion unit for the GXR interchangeable unit camera system, which went on sale on December 18, 2009. The GXR is a revolutionary new interchangeable unit camera system in which lenses can be changed by mounting camera units that integrate lens, image sensor, and image processing engine into a single unit. In addition, fully utilizing its unique capabilities, the GXR line will expand to include a variety of devices through the addition of interchangeable units other than camera units.

With this lens mount unit, photographers can mount lenses such as Leica M lenses and use them for shooting with the GXR. The lens mount unit is being designed to make the best use of the optical characteristics of the lenses mounted. It will have as its image sensor a 23.6 mm ~ 15.7 mm (APS-C size; total pixels: approx. 12.90 million) CMOS sensor, and it will also feature a newly developed focal plane shutter.

RICOH today announced that it will be releasing its newly developed CX5 digital camera model with its wide-angle, high magnification 10.7x optical zoom (28–300 mm) lens, which has a higher autofocus speed due to the use of Ricoh's new hybrid AF system.

The CX5 also records high-definition video at 720p, features an HDMI output, Macro shooting as close as 1 cm, 5fps continuous shooting, and 14 different scene modes for capturing everything from cooking, fireworks, to golf swing.

Announced globally back in September, Ricoh America today announced the release of its newest solution-enabled (SE) digital camera, the G700SE. The ruggedized, water and dust proof camera features integrated GPS, wireless data communication capabilities (Wi-Fi) and Bluetooth® technologies. The camera also features a Scandisk card (SD-1), which provides a higher level of security with password-enabled access. By sliding the card into the camera, a user can only read information by entering the correct password. The G700SE offers 12 megapixels resolution, with a 5x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. The flash has a maximum range of 10 m and it has a 28 to 140 mm wide-angle zoom lens.

Ricoh today announced the release of the new G700 digital camera with water and dust resistance for safe and reliable use even in difficult environments such as those encountered in on-site work situations. Successor model to the popular G600, the new G700 has achieved shock resistance capable of withstanding a 2.0 m drop (1.5 m when wide conversion lens is attached) in Ricoh drop testing carried out based on U.S. Department of Defense standards, and it is also capable of underwater shooting for up to two hours at depths up to 5.0 m. In addition, the G700 features newly added chemical resistance to ethanol and hypochlorous acid as well as strengthened security functions such as password-protected camera operation. The camera also features a 5x optical wide-angle zoom lens (28-140mm equivalent), and a 10m flash range.
